December 9, 2021 – ALROSA has been commended for its actions to enhance environmental disclosure, mitigate climate change and safeguard water resources by global non-profit organisation CDP, which names the world’s leading companies in corporate sustainability.

ALROSA was one of a few Russian companies in the metals and mining sector to be recognised by CDP, attaining a B- score (Management level) in ‘water security’ and a D score (Disclosure level) in ‘climate change’, based on the data submitted by the company through CDP’s 2021 questionnaire.

Alexey Philippovskiy, Chief Financial Officer at ALROSA, said: “Sustainability sits at the heart of our business, and we are proud to be awarded a place on CDP’s prestigious list for our work in increasing our transparency, mitigating climate impact and safeguarding water resources. This recognition is a testament to the impactful actions we are taking to manage our environmental footprint and have a positive impact on the entire mining sector.”

As a leader in the diamond mining industry, ALROSA strengthened its approach to sustainability in 2021 by launching a 2025 Sustainability Programme. Development of Climate change and Environmental strategies launched in October 2021 is one of the key initiatives of the Programme aimed at further reduction of ALROSA’s carbon footprint, ensuring efficient use of natural resources, enhancing transparency and improving environmental and climate-related disclosure. The Programme also includes measures to develop sustainability KPIs for the company’s management, expand membership in relevant international initiatives, ensure compliance with leading responsible business standards, and promote the adoption of advanced sustainability practices amongst its business partners.

CDP’s annual review of corporate sustainability practices is widely considered as the gold standard of environmental disclosure assessment. This year, over 13,000 companies disclosed environmental data through CDP.
