Kolodets Skazok (Well of Fairy Tales) Children’s Contest

ALROSA Ecology Center announces the Kolodets Skazok Literary and Art Contest. The winners’ works will be published in a book by the same title.

The contest is for children 6 to 15 years of age. Participants must submit a self-penned literary work (fairy tale, short story, or novella) along with an illustration. Possible topics include nature (landscapes, woodlands, rivers, seas), animals, natural phenomena (rain, fog, wind, rainbow, polar lights), and space (our planet, stars, galaxies, etc.)

«We want to spark interest in environmental protection and support writing talent in the younger generation, as well as help children see the uniqueness of nature and the importance of environmental friendliness and protection. The contest advocates for treating our world with care and compassion and banning animal abuse,» says Anastasia Mironova, the Ecocenter’s contest organizer.

The winner will be decided by popular vote on the contest’s webpage, where everyone can vote for their favorite work before July 1. The best works will be published in the book «Kolodets Skazok».

Contest entries must be submitted to kolodets.skazok@yandex.ru before May 31. Requirements for entries: 1-2 A4 pages, Times New Roman font, font size 12, 1.15 line spacing, all margins 20mm, justified. The Antiplagiarism program’s verification result must show at least 80% original text. Scanned texts in jpg, tif, pdf, etc. formats and Power Point presentations are not permitted in the contest.

The attached illustration can be made using any technique: watercolor, gouache, pastels, oil paint, colored pencils. Illustrations must be A4 size and include the contestant’s full name and the name of the submitted literary work. Requirements for scanned illustrations:

— JPEG, JPG format

— color image, 24 bits with 150 to 300 dpi resolution

— image size up to 700 pixels in width (minimum 1200 pixels on one side)

— up to 8MB file size.
